I love/hate how Martha Stewart makes me feel so desperately inadequate for not making beautifully designed moving announcements somehow sometime before, after, or (god forbid) during the chaos of a move. We moved way back in August and I’ve barely recovered. No, those are definitely NOT dusty unpacked boxes shoved in that closet …

p.s. to the M.S. staffer who designed/styled these announcements: they rock.
I should post photography way more often. I should post way more often. Sheesh.
My friend Jeff Dungfelder takes beautiful pictures.

Read my post on Apartment Therapy about how to arrange objects like Joseph Cornell (I worship that guy).

I spent last week basking in the sunshine with some of the best people in the world. The year is off to a great start. I hope yours is too.

Yeah, so, January may be halfway over already but there’s plenty left of the year ahead. Let’s make the most of it, people! Read about how I made this laser cut ornament on Apartment Therapy.
I made an extremely rushed visit to the extremely crowded bauhaus exhibit at MoMA today but boyoboy was that worth the trip—the textiles were a nice surprise, but it was all incredible. The show was a perfect follow up to an xmas gift I’ve been obsessing over, Herbert Bayer: The Complete Works (his paintings make my heart stop).

Ann & Paul Rand’s 1957 children’s book Sparkle and Spin has been on repeat in my house for days while we’ve been hiding out from the snow. At least my kid has good taste … and there’s nothing like reading a book 27,654 times to really make me appreciate Rand’s design genius.

And of course he has plenty of not-so-kid-friendly work in his repertoire (or on second thought, did kids smoke cigars in the 60s?).

Lot’s more here.
I’ve used up about my weight in tracing paper this week which means I’ve had the distinct pleasure of using pens and pencils about as often as I’ve used my mouse. Fingers crossed that 2010 will be more, and more, and more of the same.
